Benediction (2021) เป็นหนังจากฝั่งอังกฤษเล่าอัตชีวประวัติช่วงหนึ่งของกวีและนักเขียนในยุคสงครามโลกครั้งที่ 1 ที่มีชื่อเสียงที่สุดคนหนึ่งของยุคนามว่า Siegfried Sassoon
Wikiฯ ให้นิยามงานกวีของเขาว่า His poetry both described the horrors of the trenches and satirised the patriotic pretensions of those who, in Sassoon's view, were responsible for a jingoism-fuelled war
หนังเริ่มต้นที่ SS โดนเรียกไปรับใช้ชาติอันเป็นสิ่งที่ขัดแย้งต่ออุดมการณ์ของเขาเป็นอย่างยิ่งแม้ว่าในระหว่างที่ทำสงครามเขาจะได้รับการยกย่องว่า “Decorated for bravery on the Western Front including the single-handed capture of a German trench in the Hindenburg Line. Armed with grenades, he scattered sixty German soldiers”
ความไม่ชอบใจต่อการทำสงครามมาถึงจุดสูงสุดเมื่อเขาประท้วงเดี่ยวด้วยการเขียนบทกวีชื่อ ‘Soldier’s declaration’ ออกแจกจ่ายในปี 1917 ผลก็คือถูกเรียกตัวจากสนามรบไปเข้าขบวนการประเมินอาการแล้วลงท้ายด้วยการถูกส่งเข้าบำบัดใน military psychiatric hospital ใกล้กรุง Edinburgh ในปี 1917 นั้นเอง

ที่นั่น SS พบและผูกมิตรกับนายทหารคนป่วยชั้นผู้น้อยชื่อ Wilfred Owen...
...ซึ่งเป็นกวีเริ่มต้น ด้วยแรงสนับสนุนจาก SS ทำให้ฝีมือของพ่อหนุ่มแก่กล้าขึ้นถึงขนาดสร้างชื่อเสียงให้อยู่ในแนวหน้าของวงการกวียุคสงครามโลกกับเขาด้วย แต่ความดังเกิดขึ้นหลังจากเขาตายไปแล้ว จากการสนิทสนมนี้ทำให้ทั้ง 2 กลายเป็นคู่รักกัน
ความสัมพันธ์ของทั้งคู่น่าจะยืนยาวถ้าไม่เกิดเหตุพลิกผันเมื่อ WO โดนเรียกตัวกลับไปสนามรบและเสียชีวิตในปีต่อมาเมื่ออายุได้ 25 ขวบ
ส่วน SS ปลดประจำการและออกสู่สังคมชั้นสูงในฐานะเกย์คิงไฮโซ ระหว่างนั้นเขามีแฟนมากมาย แต่มีคนหนึ่งที่สร้างความสัมพันธ์ให้มี ‘รสชาติ’ มากกว่าคนอื่นคือ นักแสดงหนุ่ม Ivor Novello (1.06 ของ clip ข้างบน)
ใน clip เขาเล่นดนตรีและร้องเพลงที่มีเนื้อตลกและน่ารักมาก เป็นการเล่นคำระหว่าง came too (ไปด้วย) กับ came to (ฟื้นขึ้นมา) ตอนแรกนึกว่าทางผู้ผลิตหนังเอาเพลงชาวบ้านมาเสริม แต่หลังจากหยุดดูแล้วไปค้นแป๊บก็พบว่า IN ร้องเพลงจริง เพลงชื่อว่า And her mother came too เป็นเพลงเด่นเพลงหนึ่งของเขา
ในยุคต้น 20s เมื่อชั่ง นน. (weigh) ระหว่างยุคแล้ว เนื้อเพลงตลกแบบนี้ ในตอนนั้นคนฟังแล้วคงขำกันกลิ้ง

ตอนที่เจอกับ SS นั้น IN มีคู่รักอยู่แล้ว (คนที่เกาะอยู่ข้างเปียโน) ชื่อ Glen B. Shaw ซึ่งเป็นนักแสดงเหมือนกัน
พอ IN ได้พบ SS เขาก็สลัด GS คนรักเดิมทิ้งหน้าตาเฉย แล้วอ้าแขนรับ SS
ความรักของทั้ง 2 หวือหวา แต่ดำรงอยู่ได้ไม่นานเพราะ ‘The main drawback with love is that it descends, all to quickly, in possessiveness. That is really a bore’ นี่คือความเห็นและคติในการเปลี่ยนหน้าคนรักเป็นว่าเล่นของ IN
