จอห์น ทำแล็บรูปอยู่ แล้วก็ออกมาเดินเล่นในแคมปัส ถือกล้องประจำตัวมาด้วย เห็นนักศึกษาโบกธงดำที่แนวของเนินเขา จึงลงไปบันทึกเหตุการณ์ไว้ ได้ยินเสียงปืนก็คิดว่ากระสุนเปล่า แต่ก็เก็บภาพไว้ รู้ว่ากระสุนจริงก็เมื่อเห็น แมรี่ เว็คคิโอ ร้องไห้โฮเหนือร่างที่ไร้ลมหายใจของเพื่อน
